«This bounty hunter is my kind of scum… fearless and inventive.»
―Jabba the Hutt

We all know what we’ve seen in the movies. In an effort to rescue Han Solo from the clutches of the intergalactic gangster, Jabba the Hutt, Princess Leia disguises herself as a bounty hunter named Boushh and sneaks into Jabba’s palace. Fortunately (for fanboys everywhere, at least), she’s captured and forced into Jabba’s services as a dancer, where she’s forced to don one of the most iconic costumes in sci-fi history.

One interesting question – who is (or was) Boushh?

Well, according to Wookiepedia, Boushh was indeed a real bounty hunter that met an unfortunate end at the hand of a Black Sun operative. Apparently, he thought it would be a good idea to attempt to renege on a bounty arrangement with the feared Prince Xizor and haggle for more money. Xizor’s human replica droid, Guri, executed the bounty hunter and took his equipment. Boushh’s death was kept a secret to avoid creating a stir in the underworld. Shortly thereafter, Guri bestowed Boushh’s equipment and clothes to Princess Leia. This served both parties well, as Leia gained an identity to use to sneak into Jabba’s court, and Prince Xizor was able to put up an illusion that Boushh was alive and well; his true fate known only to Guri and the Prince himself.
